Book Review: One Indian Girl by Chetan Bhagat

If you're an avid reader with a touch of geek-spirit, you'll claim to hate Chetan Bhagat. Even though I end up reading his books, I don't do this.

I was so happy to get his latest book " One Indian Girl" (a. It was quite affordable. B. I wanted it to be read before I could critique it. However, I wasn't certain how long it would take for me to complete it without getting frustrated by it. It was so good that I finished it in two days, and then was compelled to ask for more.

Radhika Mehta, a successful I-Banker who struggles to find the ideal balance between love and work in the world of men. She was brought up believing that her over- educationand the appearance of her wheatish skin made her men-repellent. But, she soon encounters remarkable guys who proved her incorrect. They're affected by their male chauvinistic mindset that says that a woman can't do everything. She'll have to make difficult decisions in order to be with them.

Radhika in the story, is constantly running around trying to handle everything she has to do: her highly successful career, her messy love life as well as her love for her mother's union. She is like every Indian girl of 2016, determined and independent. She desires to be with an individual who won't require her to make a choice. She doesn't believe that her career matters more than your family, or in the opposite direction. She knows that she's got it covered whenever it comes.

Surprisingly, Radhika seemed to be me. I laughed with her, wept with her, felt angry with her, and was unable to feel for her. It's exhausting being 25 and earning a living in the big cities. You wear a brave smile and head to work each day. It's not easy to take everything of you when life throws your curve balls, such as heartbreaks or the stress of an organized marriage. You try to make it seem like a argument with your mom, and move on. Radhika knows that life is challenging. You must fight like a fighter, making it seem like there weren't any casualties (even when you've actually died a few times).

Chetal Bhagat did an admirable job in 'One Indian Girl'. It was fascinating to see that he was able to convey the core an Indian girl of today and made it relatable by using Radhika. He was able show the weaknesses and inhibitionsof one Indian man in 2016. It is less about the beauty of women than it does through her brain. The book was enjoyable and a pleasant weekend read although I discovered the synopsis to be inconclusive. Kudos!

This book is geared towards girls. It will help you understand that you're the best. Don't accept less.

A book without feminist men and no feminist women

The controversial book "One Indian girl by Chetan Bhagat has been praised. Either they want to throw it away or they giggle at the numbers of sales and talk about "publishing revolution", "new breeds of readers" and "publishing revolution". It's true, Chetan Bhagat revolutionized the Indian (English-language) publishing industry in the past by advocating the aspirations and needs of the current generation. It's not the same book. The brand that is selling the book,. The peoplebuy brands for various reasons. Thousands and thousands will gather to purchase tickets for the first-day premiere of a film produced by an established star. Are the films any good? It might be, but it could not be. One Indian Girl is a story that reads like a color-by-numbers exercise manual for Bollywood scriptwriting. What is a Punjabi wedding? Check it out. Check. It's possible she's fallen in the love of the three because she's too scared to believe they chose to. Low self-esteem women do bizarre things. I'm sure there are many high-achieving women who feel betrayed by men that don't merit their attention. We don't have the right to tell Radhika how she should feel. The problem is that Bhagat doesn't provide a reason for why she is so in love with men that aren't worthy of her interest. He assumes it's normal for smart, successful women to get smitten by males who are not worthy of their attention.

Let's face it. One Indian Girl wasn't intended to be a feminist book. Bhagat's politics may be closer than that of Brijesh Gulati, his portrayal: "I believe all human beings have the right to the same rights. It's not about men versus women however, it's humans versus human. The term feminist is a misnomer. It's better to call it humanist." That's also an assertion Radhika Bhagat Bhagat's character draws after her moment of self-actualization. "Everything doesn't need hi-fi labels such as feminism. She claims "Just logic" and they both smile while they go off to the sun. They're happy with their shared rationality and dismiss a 300-year-old, fierce historical record of a social movement. Do all stories presented from a woman's point of view have to be feminist? It's not so. The problem is that Bhagat was unable to find the story, and instead of writing a book "from the point of view of a girl", it was a book on "the problems women face".
